Musings on Money Spent 10 Years Ago

10 years ago today I walked down the aisle wearing the fluffiest princess ball gown you can imagine. So. Much. Tulle. In 2011 my husband and I were still a couple of years away from learning about FIRE and man, did we spend a lot of money. This morning I wondered if we had known then what we know now about FI, would we have dropped that much cash for only one day?

Unequivocally, yes. I know myself pretty well and there are many things I wish I had experienced in my younger years, but were out of reach for my family financially. It also stands out to me that I named off … Continue reading When it came to getting married, I knew I would regret not having a big, fancy wedding. 

Sometimes, you just gotta YOLO. However, to YOLO effectively, you need to know yourself and what brings you joy. If you YOLO all the time to all the things, eventually you will feel like you’re not living, restricted by all the debt. BTW, I am cringing inside because I just used that acronym three times and hope to never say it again.

Let me just say, it was a pretty awesome party. Dubstep had just made its way to America and we warned all the older/respectable attendants that things were about to get loud at midnight. My dashing groom was an OG rave DJ and some of his comrades took over the DJ booth. Also, at the very last minute, like three days before the wedding, we sprung for a videographer, which I was hesitant about because of the extra expense. Those videos though…priceless.

1 I don’t want to make it sound as though I didn’t get to do anything because I did. There was just so much more I wanted to take part in. It also stands out to me that I named off experiences that I wish I had, not necessarily things. With exception of the dresses. But, I am a huge clothes horse, so that makes sense for me.
